Admissions Requirements

The college admits students of any color, race, religion, age and national or ethnic origin. Alverno is authorized under federal law to enroll nonimmigrant alien students.

An applicant to a Degree Programme shall

1. Possess a Ugandan Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) with atleast 2 principal passes in relevant subjects attained at the same sitting and must have attained atleast five passes at Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) including a pass in English. OR

2. Possess a Diploma in a relevant field from a recognised institution of higher learning OR.

3. Pass a Mature Age Entry Examination.

4. Applicants holding qualifications other than the above shall be admitted according to the admission criteria of the country from which the certificate was awarded subject to equation by the National Council of Higher Education.

An applicant for a Diploma Programme shall

1. Possess a Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) with atleast 1 principal pass in a relevant subject and must have attained atleast five passes at Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) including a pass in English. OR

2. Possess a Certificate in a relevant field from a recognised institution of Higher Learning

3. For a Diploma in Education - Secondary, the applicant shall possess atleast two principal passes

4. For Diploma in Education - Primary, the Apllicant shall possess a Grade III Teacher's Certificate from a recognised institution or it's equivalent as shall be approved by the Ministry of Education and Sports.

5. Applicants holding qualifications other than the above shall be admitted according to the admission criteria of the countries from which the certificate was awarded subject to equation by the National Council for Higher Education.

An Applicant for a Certicate Programme

The applicant shall possess an ordinary level certificate with atleast five passes including English, obtained at the same sitting.

Students from Non-English Speaking Countires

Students who come from countries where English is not used as a medium of instruction shall be required to do an english Language bridging course. Those who have basic knowledge of English shall be given an opportunity to write an English Language Proficiency test.

Other International Applicants

International applicants must have comparable entry qualifications from their home country for the course applied for. Those who come from a country which does not have Advanced Secondary Education like Kenya shall enroll for a 4-year Programmeme instead of a 3-year Programmeme for those with A level unless they already posses a diploma in that particular field. Where equating one's documents shall be required based on the home education system, it shall be done by the relevant body in Uganda.

All documents submitted in connection with an application for admission shall become property of the University
